photography tips page and learn how to take wonderful snapshots. However, if you have a professionally taken photograph you just love, we will be happy to use it for your photo card. Just send a
letter of permission from the photographer permitting us to reproduce the photo.
Why?Professionally taken photographs are generally covered under standard copyright guidelines, but most photographers will allow reproduction if it is for a product they do not offer
(i.e. birth announcements, wedding invitations, etc.).A copyright is a protection granted to authors of original works by the U.S. Constitution and the Copyright Act of 1976.
The law protects authors from the unauthorized duplication of their original works by imposing damages and/or criminal penalties on those who violate the author's copyright.
That means if a customer makes an unathorized reprint of a copyrighted photo at MillerPrints.com, the Customer could be liable for copyright infringement!
Our Policy
In our continuing compliance effort with the Federal Copyright Law, MillerPrints.com will not copy a photograph that is signed, stamped or otherwise indentified by any photographer or studio, unless we are presented with a signed Copyright Release from the photographer or studio.
A release form must acompany any order containing a copyrighted photo. The form must be signed by the photographer or studio.
Government Photos
In the event a Customer reqquests a copy of a photograph of a past or present member of the armed forces of the United States, and that photograph does not show a copyright mark, we can assume that a copyright does not exist on the photograph only if the photograph is an official government-commissioned photo.
If the photo is marked with the name of a department of the federal government, an armed forces branch insignia or another marking of the federal government, it is most likely an official government photograph, and a copyright probably does not exist. Armed forces in this policy refer to the Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force, Coast Guard or the National Guard branches of these services.
How can I get a release?
Photographers or studios may be willing to provide you with a release for your pictures, but locating a specific photographer isn't always easy. The contacts listed below have been provided to help you get started with your search.
Definition of Terms
Author - The creator of an ariginal work. This could be a painter, writer, or photographer, just to name a few. If a photographer works for a studio, the studio is considered the author of the photograph.
Copyright Mark - The copyright symbol (©), the word copyright, the date, a proof number or a studio or photographer's name. A mark can appear on either side of the photograph.
Original Works - In photography, the original work is usually considered the original negative of the image. Prints made from the negative are considered derivative works and are protected by copyright.
<Release - Written notification from the copyright author granting permission to use or copy their original work. This release can be in the form of a letter from the author or the completed release form on this web site.
Restricted Materials - Items that may be illegal to duplicate in any form. These include items with monetary value or that are used for identification, including, but not limited to: treasury notes, stock certificates, bonds, money orders, paper currency, postage stamps, checks, passports, driver's licenses, ID cards, birth certificates, and diplomas.
Yes, we can now scan in slides, negatives and transparencies. We still prefer the photo but if all you have is a negative or slide, send it in and we will design your photo card or collage!

Once we receive payment, photos and vital information, we design the card in 2 to 3 business days. Add one day if you checked the box on the order form to receive a proof. Once we receive your approval of a proof and your "go ahead and print" signal, we can have the approved design printed and shipped in 2 to 3 business days. Expect it to be longer for holiday orders (it can be up to three weeks during the Holidays). We receive many orders for cards during the holidays and we work on them in order of the post-mark-date or email date. So order your cards early.
Yes, we can take almost any design and put it on any style/size card. You can view our different size and shapes offered
here. If more than 4 photos are to be on the front, we have to print on the largest card, a 5½ by 8½ collage card.
Vellum is a transparent paper which can be printed on and at the same time allow images or color paper to show through. Invitations and announcements with vellum overlays are becoming increasingly popular as they allow for a uniquely elegant three dimensional effect.
Yes, we design anew for every order. The samples on each of the gallery pages are merely there to give you ideas. Every card is going to be an original design because your photograph is different than the one in the sample. Therefore colors may need to be different, placing of text may need to be changed and so on. Just send us an
e-mail message with the specifics or mail them in with the order form.
You may order a proof of your card to be sent to you via e-mail or to be posted on the proof's page of the web site. There is an additional charge of $2.00 for each proof you are requesting. Since the proof takes time to design, it will add a day to your order turnaround time. Also since most of our work is done by the time you see the proof, we cannot change the photo we are using at that stage. If you want to use a different photo, it will cost an additional $10.00 for photo setup.
Yes. Just give us the details and we'll do the editing for you free of charge. We can add someone to a photo, take someone out, remove blemishes, and change a color photo to a black and white, sepia toned, or light hand tint.
Nothing happens to your photos. We just make a copy of them and use the copy to do all the work with. Your originals are returned to you with your order.
Yes, with the exception of the post card, plain envelopes are included free with all cards. As an added bonus, we offer return addressing for the ultra-low price of .15¢ per envelope.
Yes, if they use Roman characters (the same characters as English). There is no additional charge for this service. Be sure to provide correct spelling and punctuation, as we will print exactly as you have written. If you wish to have two versions of your card, i.e. English and Spanish, there is a $5.00 set up charge for the type change. (You may divide your total quantity ordered in any amount between the versions, i.e. 35 English and 15 Spanish for a total of 50 ordered.) We recommend a proof of the non-English version. The proof charge is $2.00.
Yes. We ship to UPS delivery locations, including Canada, most of Europe, and many other selected locations. Please use the form on the
contact us page to ask about your location. Please include your complete address and the quantity of cards you will be ordering. We will check with UPS to make sure we can ship to your specific address and get an estimate of your shipping charges. We will contact you with the estimate or if we cannot ship to you. We will charge to your credit card your actual shipping rate once we package and weigh your order.
We take pride in carefully retouching, proofing, and printing each order and have built MillerPrints.com on customer
satisfaction. We genuinely want you to be happy with your new custom announcements or invitations so we offer the following product satisfaction guarantee.
- If we make a mistake on your order we will express ship corrected materials to you a.s.a.p.
- If you provided us with incorrect information or you are not happy with the photo you sent us, we will be happy to work with you to correct the problem at minimal cost to you.
- If you are unhappy with your order, you may return it in its entirety including envelopes, in original condition, for a refund within 30 days. Partial refunds for partial returns are not allowed. The 30 days begins 3 days after MillerPrints.com shipped your order. Any returns received after the 30 days are not eligible for refund. Refunds will be for product only. Shipping charges, proof fees, and a design fee of $10.00 are non-refundable. On orders totalling $300 or more, a 10% restocking fee will be deducted from final refund. All refunds will be processed within 7 business days of the receipt of your returned order.
Yes, after you hit the "Order Now" button on any order form. You will be taken to a page that has our email address. Attach your digital photo file to the email and hit "send".
